We may awaken to ourselves as vast, timeless, peaceful, and untouched, only to discover that the human being is still… human. Hurt, irritated, confused, tired, reactive, and occasionally spectacularly unreasonable. Spirituality can leave us with the “should” that if we were doing it right, much of this would have disappeared by now.
In this two-hour gathering, we’ll explore the difference between freedom from identification with our humanness and freedom from humanness itself. What if awakening isn’t meant to perfect the person as imagined, but to give us a much larger, freer, and more merciful place to live from? We’ll explore how to meet our ordinary humanity without either being identified with it or trying to transcend it, allowing the light of awareness to include the whole tender business of being human.
