Gail Brenner ~ The Sacred Work of Trauma and Awakening: Coming Home Together – A Half-Day Retreat

Thursday, July 9, 2020 @ 9:00am-1:00pm (Pacific Time)

A powerful insight is illuminated when we realize how much our conditioned patterns mask our happiness. Many of these patterns have plagued us for years. We hear about freedom as a possibility—or we've had a taste of our true nature—but somehow this programming keeps getting played out in our minds, our emotions, our relationships, and our choices in life. We feel stuck in the painful sense of separation…from ourselves and the sacredness of all of Life.

Finally, we realize that we can't go it alone. Our disconnection from our divine nature happened in the context of relationship so we need to practice together—in a supportive and loving community—to find our way home.

Join us for this 4-hour retreat as we create a safe and supportive healing space to do the deeper work that unfolds on the path of awakening. Through helpful practices, including guided meditations, clarifying wisdom, small group sharing, and heartfelt conversation, we’ll learn to untangle these identities and find our way home to the ever present space of inner aliveness.

      • We’ll cultivate a sense of safety for those hidden, cut off parts of ourselves to come out into the light of loving awareness. This is what heals shame.
      • We’ll attend to the nervous system and the body to stay rooted in the world.
      • We’ll learn to identify the inner critic and challenge limiting beliefs about ourselves, others, and the world.
      • We’ll practice honoring and embracing difficult emotions so they can be offered the loving attention they so desperately long for.
      • And we’ll discover, over and over, the ground of being, your true home that has never been touched by these experiences.

Stress and worry…people pleasing…persistent relationship struggles…proving yourself through accomplishments…these longstanding patterns are profound invitations into liberation from the sense of separation. Together, we lovingly embrace our humanness as we expand into overflowing appreciation, vibrant joy, and deep connection with all of Life.

Gail Brenner, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist and author who who has a passion for embodied conscious living. Her work lovingly illuminates our everyday humanness with the deepest spiritual truths. She meets with individuals and groups and continues to study pathways for healing from early trauma. Gail is the author of the award-winning The End of Self-Help and Suffering Is Optional.

“I liked the sense of trust, profound acceptance, safety, unconditional love and support that Gail brought to us. The course made me realize the importance of being involved in a community of people dedicated to the most important thing to me, Healing and Awakening. I just cannot do it alone!”
~Aline B.

“I appreciated Gail’s ability to guide us in areas that are difficult to even put words to, as well as her ability to transmit such presence and lovingkindness. Somehow she was able to guide me around the resistance(s) to a more loving acceptance of what is. Gail is able to transform through her presence and I think anyone open to healing would benefit.”
~Erica C.

“Gail was a wonderful loving and attentive presence; I felt seen and heard.”
~A.C.

“At any moment, within the field of your own experience, there is an inner sanctuary of presence and stillness. You access this space by shifting your attention away from the jumble of thoughts, feelings, stories, fears, and external input such as others’ opinions. You simply turn inward—beyond all mind movement—and be.

In no time at all, you find the ground of being, the light of living vibration that’s here in every moment. It’s timeless, which means it’s eternally present, and all-embracing as the unity of all. Don’t be afraid of this vast love. Fall into its arms…”

Riyaz Motan, MFT ~ Embodied Presence: Listening and Guiding from Wholeness ~ 4-part Course

Friday, July 10, 2020 @ and Fridays, July 17, 24 & 31, 10:00am - 12:30pm (Pacific Time)

Event will be recorded and emailed to participants after each meeting.
You're welcome to join even if you can't attend all the live sessions.
4-part Course:
Fridays, July 10, 17, 24, 31
10:00 am – 12:30 pm, Pacific Time

This course is for healers — psychotherapists, counselors, interns, psychology students, transformational coaches, spiritual counselors, holistic practitioners, body/mind workers and other related healers that are interested the therapeutic applications of nondual wisdom. It is an invitation to explore our healing work as a sacred path of embodied awakening.

While many of us already have our own spiritual practices that support and inform us in our work; this course invites us to more deeply explore and integrate our awakening into our work with clients. We will learn to attune to presence, and practice listening and relating from our deepest ground.  In doing so, we open ourselves up to the root source of healing and wholeness — the ground of being; we open up our bodies and our innate sensitivity, and we allow for the emergence of intuition and heart wisdom to inform and guide our healing work.

Over the course of four weekly meetings, we will explore the following areas:

  • Listening, speaking, and relating from embodied presence.
  • Being the context, not getting lost in content
  • Learning to rest in, and trust, the unknown.
  • Energetic resonance; listening with your whole being/whole body.
  • Creating ‘experiential portals’; honing in on your clients’ beliefs, feelings, sensations, and the relational field to facilitate spontaneous and deep discovery.
  • Inviting the client to explore their experience from unconditional presence; helping them to drop below the problem-solving mind, to be fully present and open, and to allow for the spontaneous unfolding of their experience.
  • Exploring the foundational role of energetic transmission in the healing relationship.

Riyaz Motan, MFT is a licensed psychotherapist and has been in practice for over 20 years. He has been a long-time clinical supervisor to students and interns, as well as serving as an adjunct professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies.
In 2013, Riyaz took over teaching The Art of Listening at CIIS from his mentor, John Prendergast, PhD., who is a seminal figure and pioneer in the nondual approach to psychotherapy.  Riyaz offers consultation, trainings and presentations on this nondual approach to psychotherapy.

Tilicho ~ Deep Dive into Awakening and Healing: 2nd Chakra – 4-Hour Workshop

Sunday, July 19, 2020 @ 9:00am - 1:00pm (Pacific Time)

During this series of workshops with Tilicho, we inquire about our Real Nature and bring awareness and healing to the traumas and mind patterns preventing us from really being ourselves: from opening to the present moment as it is.

This session focuses on the second chakra: Desires, Sexuality, Money and Death.

You are invited to dive deep within, and from a place of Self-recognition, let all causes of suffering emerge to the surface, in a safe atmosphere of love, compassion and understanding.

Thanks to the very interactive format of the meeting, you’ll be able to receive personal guidance and suggestions about your awakening and healing journey.
We meet from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, with a half an hour break.

This workshop is part of a monthly series, where we explore ourselves chakra by chakra. You are welcome to attend the whole series, or join individual workshops, even if you have not attended the previous ones.

Tilicho spontaneously realized the Self in 1998 without following any teaching or practice. The absence of spiritual conditioning allowed her to see through the veils of spiritual idealism and illusions. She ended up spending thirteen years in Tiruvannamalai in south India, the seat of Ramana Maharshi and the sacred mountain, Arunachala. While recognizing the beauty of the Advaita teachings, she also observed that they can easily be misunderstood and distorted. Although the Self is eternally free from the world, it is not separate from it. Clarity does not exclude openness. Her teaching stresses the need to combine Masculine and Feminine qualities and approaches. It is an invitation to find unity within and without.
