We live in a world that celebrates doing. We measure our days by what we accomplished, our value by what we produced, and our progress by how much we’ve managed to get done. Even our spiritual life can become another project, another attempt to improve ourselves, fix ourselves, or to get somewhere in particular.
But what if we’ve gotten the order backwards?
What if doing was never meant to define who we are, but to arise naturally from who we are?
In this gathering, we’ll explore the relationship between being and doing, and how much of our effort, striving, busyness, and exhaustion comes from forgetting the ground of our own Being. We’ll look at the subtle ways we become identified with our roles, responsibilities, accomplishments, and endless activity, and what becomes possible when we rest more deeply in the simple fact of our existence.
As we rediscover the quiet ground of Being, our actions become less driven by fear, pressure, and the need to prove ourselves. They become simpler, more alive, more joyful, and more true. Together we’ll explore what it means to let doing become an expression of Being rather than a substitute for it.
