Dorothy Hunt ~ Seeing from Love – Hiding from Love ~ 3-part Online Valentine’s Retreat

Friday, February 9, 2024 @ 9:00am – 12:00pm, part of a 3-Part Retreat, includes Feb. 9, 10 & 11

Within each of us is the Source of an unconditional Loving. Are we open to receive such a gift? Is it possible to see ourselves or apparent “others” from this loving dimension of the Heart? Longing for love, we often hide from it, imagining we are not worthy, or demanding that love must come in a particular size and shape.
While love may have many faces, in its deepest essence, it has no opposite and requires no protection, although it often evokes feelings of vulnerability in its human expressions.

This three-day online retreat with Dorothy Hunt will include guided meditations, silence, dharma talks, and dialogue, as we explore the experience of giving and receiving Love. We may even discover that our true Valentine lives within as both lover and beloved!

Dorothy Hunt currently serves as Spiritual Director of Moon Mountain Sangha, teaching at the request and in the spiritual lineage of Adyashanti. The flavor of her teaching blends Advaita and Zen with a deep welcoming of the human expressions of the Mystery.

Many have experienced something “called” love that has felt controlling or like a conditional business arrangement—"I’ll love you if you become who I want you to be."

Dorothy is the founder of the San Francisco Center for Meditation and Psychotherapy, and practiced psychotherapy from 1967 until her retirement in 2020.  She is the author of Only This!, Leaves from Moon Mountain, and Ending the Search: From Spiritual Ambition to the Heart of Awareness. In addition, she is a contributing author to two books on Nondual Wisdom and Psychotherapy, and the editor of Love: A Fruit Always in Season.

Susanne Marie ~ Crisis and Integration ~ In-Person Local Event

Sunday, February 11, 2024 @ 2:00pm~4:00pm
Sebastopol, 8476 Sonoma Ave.
Sebastopol, CA,
+ Google Map

This is Susanne's first public meeting since her car accident which took place August 12th, 2023, resulting in 9 broken bones & pelvic surgery. Susanne is featured in conversation on 11/15/16 with Adyashanti on Buddha at the Gaspump (https://batgap.com/adyashanti-susanne-marie-falling-away-self/), as well as on ConsciousTV (http://conscious.tv/single.php?vid=2860077502001 and https://conscious.tv/single.php?vid=5847718840001). Susanne offers teachings in support of freedom and the celebration of our common essence of love and unity with all life. She is the parent of two young adults, and offers spiritual mentoring, online and in-person group facilitation, as well as retreats.

Join Susanne and friends as we explore how the impact of crisis can be met within the realm of awakening. An unexpected event can reveal undiscovered territory within one's conditioning, that jump at the opportunity to come to the light and be transformed. Perhaps the first blessing of a major life altering event is being stopped so fully that there is no option other than being fully present to the moment. Encountering the beautiful human spirit of generosity and kindness that can help redeem one and in turn open one's heart.

Similarly, pain and crisis can invite vast reservoirs of capacity to open in surrender to the moment, helping us to see how much we have benefited from realizations and personal work. Grace comes out of deep spiritual work. It is like having a spiritual piggy bank that comes in handy when faced with challenging times.

Deep change and transformation can take place when we allow for the breaking free of lifelong patterns. Living awakening in each moment is the opportunity given during difficult times. Using inquiry such as asking ourselves: "Can I meet this moment as intimately as possible without resistance?" is an avenue into becoming present.

Christiane Prendergast ~ Exploration in Stillness ~ In-Person Local Event

Saturday, February 17, 2024 @ 10:00am~12:00pm
Chochmat HaLev, 2215 Prince St.
Berkeley, CA United States
+ Google Map

With gentle movements, we allow the body to be felt as it presents itself, moment to moment. Whether there is constriction or heaviness, we unconditionally welcome it through space-feeling, sensing, as well as with an occasional simple inquiry. With this approach, we experience that there is nothing to do, to change or to achieve. Open Presence allows these movements to free themselves and to be newly sensed at any moment. In this way, we effortlessly become one with welcoming that is our home ground.

We start with a short meditation. At the end of the session there will be a time for sharing and questions.
Please bring a blanket or a mat.

Bio: Originally from France, Christiane was a student of the late European Advaita master Jean Klein for over 20 years. Although rooted in Advaita, Jean incorporated a form of subtle-body yoga from Kashmir Shaivism. It is this approach that he taught to Christiane.

Suggested Donation: $15- $25, no one turned away.
No pre-registration. Pay at door when you arrive.
If you have symptoms of a viral infection, or have had a recent
Covid exposure or positive test, please stay home out of consideration for others.

Lisa Cairns ~ Is There a “Doer”?

Sunday, February 18, 2024 @ 9:00am-11:00am (Pacific Time)

There's no "doer" doing anything, there is no independent person, it's just a happening, all of it, now. When you're walking your legs are simply walking all by themselves and we claim that and we say „I'm walking“.

Who is this „I“ that walks ?
There's nobody that's walking.

Walking happens. Speaking happens. Looking happens. Hearing happens. Action happens.
And our illusion is that we act.

„I act. I'm naked. I'm not naked. I'm free. I'm not free. I'm enlightened. I'm not enlightened.“

There is nobody. It's all coming from divinity and nothing is outside of you, nothing!
Everything is a production of your brain, and your brain is a production of that infinite unknowable source which is free. It's so free, everything!

There's nothing you need to worry about or not worry about but yeah, worrying happens. But it's not your worrying and there's nothing wrong with worrying happening, There's nothing wrong with deceit happening, there's nothing wrong with anger happening, there's nothing wrong with love happening or joy happening, they're all the same. It is simply life playing out, and it couldn't be any other way.

About Lisa:
In Bali in 2011, Lisa suddenly lost total control while eating banana fritters with ice cream, and there was a sudden and explosive energetic shift; at that moment it was understood, beyond the intellect, non-dual philosophy.

For the past eleven years, she has traveled around the world, sharing an amazing Indian Philosophy called Non duality. She has spoken in book shops, cafes, yoga centers, universities, schools, the UK’s NHS (National Health Care System), conference centers, festivals, theatres and in someone’s front room.

In her talks, she tries to communicate the limitless nature of life, which you could say is at the root of every philosophy, religion or story. This is a tall order, so failing that, she hopes to open doors for anyone who wants to listen, providing a broader perspective on this magical thing we call life.

More about Lisa: www.lisacairns.com

Suggested donation: $15 to $40
No one turned away for lack of funds.
Please register early if you can.

The event will be recorded and emailed to participants within a week.
