Co-sponsored by Open Circle

Labor Day, Monday Sept. 2nd, 2-4 pm.
71 Windsor Lane, Petaluma- Home of Menahem & Jennifer Anderman

Sangha and Refreshments following. You are invited to bring a savory or sweet snack (vegan/vegetarian) to share. We will provide beverages. Please bring back jacks if you want to sit on the floor. Suggested donation $10-20, no one turned away.

A Walk in the Petaluma hills following refreshments is possible so, if interested, bring walking shoes.

From Pamela: here we are, benevolent rooted space wearing a remarkably sensitive instrument called the body. Most sages report the body mind insists on being included and permeated by presence, so it too, can know and live its naturalness. The body is the five elements, already free with no history, though it has born witness to all. As compassion we will be instantly aware of any suffering and answer its call, as stillness we will be aware of remaining restlessness. To be with what is in the moment, this is our function and is at the heart of all longing. Join with your fellow sages in satsang, sharing what you are noticing is an act of love.

Pamela speaks the Truth of advaita, non-duality - that the universe is one undivided whole. For the last fifteen years she has traveled widely in the United States, Canada and Europe, holding satsang and giving private sessions. She sat with Robert Adams and Neelam. Week-long retreats have been held in Mexico, Costa Rica, France, the United Kingdom, Canada and the USA. She has endeared herself to many through her lighthearted humor and compassion, and deep understanding of what it is to be human. She lives in the Bay Area of Northern California.

Drop-ins welcome. Please plan to arrive before 2pm so we can all settle in together. Doors open at 1:30pm. Our home is the far right house in a grouping of four houses off of Windsor Lane. We are the last grouping on the right from “D” street direction and the first grouping on the left from Western Avenue direction. Parking is available on Windsor Lane. Please do not park in the driveway area.

Shakti Caterina Maggi ~ Embodied Consciousness

Saturday, October 19, 2019 @ 1:00pm~5:00pm
Sebastopol, 8476 Sonoma Ave.
Sebastopol, CA,
+ Google Map

Afternoon Intensive with Shakti Caterina Maggi

From understanding to being, the passage of embodying awakening requires a deep integration into our everyday life of what has been revealed in our spiritual journey. Perception is the way through which we will directly connect to our non-dual nature, as all illusion of separation is purely conceptual.

This experiential intensive will lead to profound access to our true Consciousness, and will guide participants in the transformation of the way in which we see ourselves and the world, as well as the way in which we can deal with suffering in ourselves and others. The intensive will include meditations, open discussion, and special perception exercises to help us see and dissolve the patterns of holding and resistance that reinforce the sense of separation.

Shakti Caterina Maggi has been sharing a message of awakening to our true nature as One Consciousness since 2003. Her approach to Self-Realization is very contemporary and accessible, and is profoundly in tune with Advaita and the non-dual Tantric traditions. She reveals the real possibility of seeing what we truly are, and embodying it in our everyday lives with clarity, wisdom, and humor.

She was recently asked to contribute to the anthology On the Mystery of Being: Contemporary Insights into the Convergence of Science and Spirituality edited by Zaya and Maurizio Benazzo, the founders of the Science and Non-Duality (SAND) Conference. She teaches in Europe, Canada and the USA, offering satsang, seminars and retreats.

“The true Heart is the space in which we can deeply meet ourselves and the entire world. The way to the Heart is an embodied Consciousness, in which we are divinely human.”

February 2020

Ellen Emmet ~ The Awakening Body

Sunday, February 9, 2020 @ 2:00pm~5:00pm
Sebastopol, 8476 Sonoma Ave.
Sebastopol, CA,
+ Google Map

Satsang 2-4 pm; refreshments until 5

In our daily lives, the body is seldom tasted as it truly is. We rarely listen to its language or allow it to simply blossom with its natural, organic intelligence. In fact we have deeply disconnected from this level of experience and even when we turn back towards the body, we come with agendas and ideas that we project upon it, only to perpetuate a network of tension and density that we identify with as 'myself'.

Ellen’s approach to the body is a form of ‘somatic inquiry’ that invites us to open to the totality of our felt, tactile and sensorial experience moment by moment, free of any agenda. With the help of guided meditation, visualizations and dialog, we will discover our place in and as this open, available, listening presence which is our essential identity. Simultaneously the body will uncover its organic and natural resonance and identity with this presence which is its source and substance. Gently and effortlessly, it will flow with more and more ease, intensity and transparency.

Ellen’s deepest intuition was confirmed when she met her teacher, Francis Lucille. In his presence, she recognized the eternal, limitless and universal nature of our shared reality. As a child, Ellen loved to move and dance. She knew, without words, the joy and limitless transparency that the body dissolved into when it was free and alive. Thus, the experience we call the body has always been central to all of Ellen’s experiences, both in ignoring and in recognizing our true nature.

Ellen offers meetings and retreats, sharing a direct exploration of reality sourced in the traditions of Kashmir Shivaism and Advaitic self-inquiry. In addition, she has a private practice as a psychotherapist, and facilitator of Authentic Movement. She has Master Degrees in Dance Movement Therapy from NYU, and Transpersonal Psychology from JFK, and has a certificate in Laban Movement. She lives in Oxford, England with her husband, Rupert Spira.

April 2020

Open Circle Sebastopol Sangha ~ The Quiet Within

Thursday, April 9, 2020 @ 10:00am - 11:00am
Sebastopol, 8476 Sonoma Ave.
Sebastopol, CA,
+ Google Map

Per Thich Nhat Hanh’s definition, sangha is a community of friends practicing the dharma together to bring about and maintain awareness. The theme for this free meeting, The Quiet Within, is the ground of our being, a place of emptiness, peace and strength. We can access it anytime, anywhere, in meditation and mindfulness in daily life.

The meeting will start with mediation, a few opening remarks, a one-word check-in, then time for everyone, to share your experience with going within. These are extraordinary times, with most of us sheltering at home. They call for an extraordinary response from us, beyond the usual consumer business. Going within is to detach from usual mind states, to rest in the source of our being.

Open Circle Sebastopol Sangha ~ The Absolute

Thursday, April 30, 2020 @ 10:00am - 11:00am

This free meeting will include meditation, and conversation in small groups.

The theme is "The Absolute". In the journey of nondual awareness, the absolute is a place of peace, emptiness, and home. Adyashanti has described it as “a kind of emptiness in the center of our being”. For Hameed Ali it’s “the absence of any basis for self or personality...a spontaneity...to be an instrument of the absolute, allowing the absolute to behold and experience its own creation, its own display of its hidden treasures”. Sri Aurobindo said the absolute or "nirvana" is “a condition above and without thought, unstained by any mental or vital movement; there was no ego, no real world – only when one looked through the immobile senses, something perceived or born upon its sheer silence a world of empty forms, materialized shadows without true substance.”

If we’re quiet enough, we can access it, through a breath, or the mind. It’s a vacation from the ups & downs of consciousness, to a place of wholeness, ground and emptiness.
