SUMMARY:Jeannie Zandi ~ Citizen of Love: Embodying Your Place in the Whole
DESCRIPTION:Discover how to take your place in the living collective while maintaining your sovereignty and authenticity. \nWhat does it mean to be a true citizen of the world—not as an abstract ideal\, but as an embodied reality? In this illuminating session\, Jeannie will guide participants beyond both rugged individualism and self-abandoning collectivism into a vision of citizenship rooted in the understanding that we are distinct yet inseparable parts of a living whole. \nReferencing Jeannie’s “1-2-3” framework for building authentic and love-based community\, we’ll focus specifically on how true citizenship emerges naturally when we’re grounded in being\, sovereignty and enlightened relating. \nTogether\, we’ll discover: \n\n\nThe difference between obligation-based citizenship and contribution flowing from wholeness \n\n\nThe importance of sovereignty\, authenticity\, self-care and self-trust \n\n\nThe role of container and how to relate to that with maturity \n\n\nRecognizing feel-good immature belonging versus true belonging \n\n\nHow to identify your unique gifts that may differ from those of others \n\n\nWays to participate in collective endeavors without losing your center or voice \n\n\nThe importance of learning about our impact on the commons \n\n\nThe art of holding healthy boundaries while remaining responsive to the needs of the whole \n\n\nThis class invites you to consider: What if your clearest expression of individual truth is exactly what the whole needs? What if being fully yourself is your greatest service? What if your sovereignty and the collective’s well-being are not opposed\, but intimately connected? \nAbout Jeannie Zandi\nJeannie Zandi is a nondual spiritual teacher and guide for embodied awakening\, inviting students to fully inhabit their human lives with presence\, clarity\, and love. Known for her fierce tenderness\, irreverent wisdom\, and unwavering presence\, she creates powerful spaces for transformation\, where truth is met in the raw\, and awakening moves beyond concept into lived reality. \nHer work bridges the mystical and the practical\, inviting students to embrace every aspect of experience—joy\, challenge\, and the mundane—as fuel for awakening. Rather than transcending life\, she calls us to root in it\, maturing into authentic expressions of love\, serving the whole with wisdom and heart. \nwww.jeanniezandi.com \nSliding Scale: $15 to $40\nHowever\, no one turned away for lack of funds.\nIf you can’t pay within the sliding scale\, contact us to let us know what you can contribute.\nAddress inquiries to web@opencirclecenter.org \nREGISTER \nThe event will be recorded and emailed to participants within a week.\nTo check your local time\, use a tool such as: Time Zone Converter

SUMMARY:Lisa Witter ~ Awakening through Kashmir Shaivism (In-Person Event)
DESCRIPTION:In this satsang\, Lisa will guide us in exploring Kashmir Shaivism. This points to a deep engagement with life\, finding the sacred in the simple\, and connecting with the Divine through our sense of taste. Rooted in non-dual Tantric tradition\, this is a journey of awakening through sensory exploration. Discover a non-dual approach to savoring each moment\, finding joy and divinity in even the most mundane experiences. \nNondual shaivism originated in Kashmir in 850 – 900 AD. It was written in sutras and other texts\, as a branch of Hinduism. It’s referred to as a “tantra” practice\, as it’s done in private\, with emphasis on posture\, the mind\, and controlling vital energy. This tradition teaches the full experiencing our sensory perceptions\, emotions\, and thoughts\, without rejecting them as illusion or distractions. The true nature of reality and ourselves are recognized as one and the same. Lisa will lead us in an “embodied” form of non-dualism\, using the senses as the doorway toward recognition of our true nature. She will explore Kashmir Shaivism as a nondual approach to modern life. \nLisa Witter is a Sebastopol-based Psycho-Spiritual Counselor\, Non-Dual Tantric meditation teacher\, and founder of the Living Tantra Project and Tantric Arts Collective. She specializes in helping practitioners integrate their spiritual practice and awakening experiences into daily life—teaching how to live a tantra-informed life. \nWith over 20 years of study and practice\, Lisa bridges a rare gap: she brings together professional training in spiritual counseling and coaching with deep commitment to classical tantric lineages. She was initiated in Paramahansa Yogananda’s kriya yoga lineage and continues advanced studies in Trika Śaivism and Śrī Vidyā Tantra. She also holds professional certifications in Depth Hypnosis\, EFT\, Life Coaching\, Somatic Healing\, and Expressive Arts. \nLisa is known for her clear\, accessible teaching\, her ethical grounding\, and her expertise in cult dynamics in the spiritual space—offering guidance that is both trauma-aware and deeply rooted in practice. Lisa worked side by side with the late Barbara Marx Hubbard\, with whom she facilitated a weekly online broadcast called Evolutionary Church. She is a contributing author to the Amazon best seller Soulful Leadrship: A Spiritual Path to Health\, Wealth and Love. \nLisa on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/lisaengles \nLisa on Insight Timer: https://insighttimer.com/lisaengleswitter \nThe satsang includes a meditation\, comments by the speaker\, then Q&A and discussion.\nSatsang: 2-4 pm\nRefreshments: until 5\nSuggested Donation: $10- $20\, no one turned away.\nNo reservation needed. Pay at door when you arrive. \nLocation: 8476 Sonoma Ave\, Sebastopol\, CA\, the home of Tomas Phillips.\nNote: The address sign says 8474/8476.  Park on the street\, and walk down the short driveway to the house with the carport.\nPlease dress mindfully (with warm layers)\, doors & windows will be open!\nIf you have symptoms of a viral infection\, or have had a recent Covid exposure or positive test\, please stay home out of consideration for others.
