SUMMARY:Jeremy Lent & Lisa Ferguson ~ The Inner and Outer Dimensions of an Ecological Civilization
DESCRIPTION:The Inner and Outer Dimensions of an Ecological Civilization\nwith Jeremy Lent and Lisa Ferguson\nPart of the Engaged Nonduality Series \nThis event builds on the release of Jeremy Lent’s book\, Ecocivilization: Making a World That Works for All\, which envisions a world system that sets the conditions for all to flourish on a regenerated earth. Jeremy and Lisa will explore this vision from the depth of nondual understanding. \nIf the root of our Metacrisis is separation\, then the nondual recognition of non-separation is essential to responding skillfully. This is the deeper basis for any lasting systemic change that may occur. \nIf you are feeling despair about our world\, one of the core tenets of Ecocilivation is that there is an alternative. One not of empty hope\, but of grounded possibility. One that welcomes our engagement\, unique gifts and contributions. \nAbout the book: \nAs climate chaos\, inequality\, and social fragmentation intensify\, humanity faces an imminent choice: continue with a system built on extraction and endless growth\, or reimagine civilization itself.\n\nJeremy Lent offers that reimagination: an ecocivilization\, grounded in proven design principles of ecosystems and in humankind’s evolved inclination toward justice\, mutuality\, and dignity. \nOne of the things we love about this vision is that it is not a blueprint handed down from on high\, but rather an invitation to co-create\, making visible the visionary work already taking place around the world. \nThe session will include meditation\, a presentation by Jeremy\, Q&A\, group engagement and practice. Jeremy will share about Ecocivilization\, and Jeremy and Lisa will both explore the deeper roots of the inner dimensions through nondual understanding\, which will invite us into a grounded expression of love that knows no bounds. \nIt’s truly a joy to welcome Jeremy back to this series not only as a brilliant thinker and writer\, but also as my life partner! We’re looking forward to weaving the inner and outer dimensions of civilization-level transformation for our troubled world\, informed by our deepest love and wisdom. \nYou may enjoy watching a video or two ahead of our session to deepen your experience: Jeremy’s previous session in the Engaged Nonduality series or this video of Jeremy talking about Ecocivilization. \nAbout the Engaged Nonduality Series \nThis Engaged Nonduality series\, hosted by Lisa Ferguson\, explores how nondual wisdom may respond to our world in crisis. We live in a time of multiple intersecting crises that threaten the wellbeing of all life\, including climate breakdown\, unaligned tech and AI\, injustice\, war and authoritarianism. The recognition of nonduality has much to offer in these times\, including a deep knowing of nonseparation\, as well as access to the a wise and creative response emerging from our collective wholeness. \nBIOS \nJeremy Lent\, described by Guardian journalist George Monbiot as “one of the greatest thinkers of our age\,” is an author and speaker whose work investigates the underlying causes of our civilization’s existential crisis\, and explores pathways toward a life-affirming future. \nHe is the author of Ecocivilization: Making a World That Works for All. His award-winning book\, The Patterning Instinct: A Cultural History of Humanity’s Search for Meaning\, examines the way humans have made meaning from the cosmos from hunter-gatherer times to the present day. His more recent award-winning The Web of Meaning: Integrating Science and Traditional Wisdom to Find Our Place in the Universe offers a solid foundation for an integrative worldview that could lead humanity to a sustainable\, flourishing future. \nLent is the founder and host of the Deep Transformation Network\, an online global community of over 5\,000 members exploring pathways toward a life-affirming future on a regenerated Earth. Lent has written extensively about the vision and specifics of an ecological civilization\, and is a founding member of the Ecocivilization Coalition\, a worldwide alliance of changemakers coming together to act as a transformation catalyst in service of this potential future. \nLisa Ferguson\, Ph.D.\, integrates awakening\, healing\, and action in her work on Engaged Nonduality: how our spiritual recognition is embodied in response to planetary crises\, injustice and suffering. Through groups\, 1:1 sessions\, and public events\, she holds space for personal and collective awakening and skillful action. \nLisa has worked closely with John Prendergast as a mentee and co-leader of Engaged Nonduality offerings\, and has facilitated a meditative inquiry group for several years.\nBased on her experience as a change agent and organizer\, she founded Climate Compassion in 2015 to support the inner and outer work of responding to our planetary crises with wise action and a compassionate heart. \nSliding Scale: $15 to $40\nNo one turned away for lack of funds.\nIf you can’t pay within the sliding scale\, contact us to let us know what you can contribute.\nAddress inquiries to web@opencirclecenter.org\nREGISTER \nRecording will be emailed to participants within a week.\nYou’re welcome to join even if you can’t attend the live session.\nTo check your local time\, use a tool such as: World Time Buddy
