SUMMARY:Miranda Macpherson & Lisa Ferguson ~ Engaged Nonduality: Power\, Abuse and Spiritual Bypassing
DESCRIPTION:Let’s Talk about Power\, Abuse and Spiritual Bypassing:\nHow Spirituality Can Help Us Address Harm and Create Change \nAn Engaged Nonduality Event\nWith Miranda Macpherson and Lisa Ferguson \nEngaged Nonduality recognizes that awareness and response are not separate. The same ground of being that reveals our shared nature also moves as a compassionate\, embodied response. In this view\, the crises of our time—including racism and systemic injustice—are not distractions from awakening but invitations to live it. \nWe are in a moment of cultural reckoning about abuse and power. \nThe Epstein files reveal the way power and abuse\, misogyny and racism\, have been part of the underlying structure of our society. \nNondual teachings could be used to avoid these topics\, or to retreat from taking action. However\, they also have great potential to inform how we can skillfully interrupt harm and foster cultural change that benefits us all. \nIt can be challenging to face the underlying patterns of domination that are active in our society now. And we have a precious opportunity to allow ourselves to be deeply moved\, to tend to our hearts\, and to engage in skillful action. \nIn this event we’ll explore the resource of our true nature in discovering fresh\, creative responses to harm. We’ll invite us to come into a healthy relationship with power and accountability as an expression of nondual compassion. \nTogether we’ll explore: \n\nHow intercepting abuse is a natural human response—and what holds us back from this natural instinct.\nHow “spiritual bypassing” keeps systems of domination intact and what we can do instead.\nWays to recognize and use power consciously—whether in leadership\, family\, or community roles.\nHow to act from integrity and our deepest knowing in the face of systemic and personal harm.\n\nBios \nMiranda Macpherson is a contemporary spiritual teacher who has been guiding others into direct experience of the sacred for over thirty years internationally. In her twenties she founded the OneSpirit Interfaith Foundation in London\, where she trained and ordained over 600 ministers and counsellors. Today Miranda leads the Living Grace Global Sangha\, leads retreats internationally\, broadcasts extensively and serves as core faculty at The Shift Network. She is an advisor to the Association for Spiritual Integrity. \nUnapologetically feminine\, joyful and down to earth in her way of being\, Miranda is dedicated to loving people all the way back into the freedom and wholeness of our True Nature. Further\, Miranda invites others to become more graceful human beings\, embodying creative\, peaceful and wise action that serves our loved ones and the human family in these enormous times. \nMiranda’s books include The Way of Grace: the Transforming Power of Ego Relaxation (Sounds True)\, Boundless Love (Rider) and Meditations on Boundless Love (Sounds True)\, and the Cultivating Grace Card Deck. Miranda is also a kirtan musician and singer with 2 mantra albums – Streams of Grace and The Heart of Being. Find out more at www.mirandamacpherson.com \nLisa Ferguson\, Ph.D.\, integrates awakening\, healing\, and action in her work on Engaged Nonduality: how our spiritual recognition is embodied in response to planetary crises\, injustice and suffering. Through groups\, 1:1 sessions\, and public events\, she holds space for personal and collective awakening and skillful action. \nLisa has worked closely with John Prendergast as a mentee and co-leader of Engaged Nonduality offerings\, and has facilitated a meditative inquiry group for several years.\nBased on her experience as a change agent and organizer\, she founded Climate Compassion in 2015 to support the inner and outer work of responding to our planetary crises with wise action and a compassionate heart. \nAbout The Engaged Nonduality series\nThis Engaged Nonduality series\, hosted by Lisa Ferguson\, explores how nondual wisdom may respond to our world in crisis. We live in a time of multiple intersecting crises that threaten the wellbeing of all life\, including climate breakdown\, unaligned tech and AI\, injustice\, war and authoritarianism. The recognition of nonduality has much to offer in these times\, including a deep knowing of our wholeness and shared Being\, as well as opening to the wellspring of our wise and creative response. \nSliding Scale: $15 to $40\nNo one turned away for lack of funds.\nIf you can’t pay within the sliding scale\, contact us to let us know what you can contribute.\nAddress inquiries to web@opencirclecenter.org\nREGISTER \nRecording will be emailed to participants within a week.\nYou’re welcome to join even if you can’t attend the live session.\nTo check your local time\, use a tool such as: World Time Buddy
